Continued Learning Lectures
Each season, Icon offers a series of lay lectures and travelogues by noted authors, artists, and historians who excel at sharing their research and adventures, through presentations and lively storytelling. To more effectively demonstrate the ideas and examples within their discussion, the noted speakers will walk the guest audience through relative museums, archeological sites, and around monuments located in a variety of Italian cities. This “experiential classroom” environment provides a deeper understanding of the subject, and allows guests to ask questions and explore beyond the pages of a textbook. Early registration is encouraged and spaces are limited. Groups are limited to 10 guests per lecture .For a complete schedule of up coming lectures, please contact our Continued Learning specialist, Teresa di Vetralla, at marina@icontours.com
Workshops
Ever dream of spending a week learning watercolor painting on the Almafi Coast, or fine-tuning your photographic talent in the hills of Umbria? A change of perspective and a fresh environment can be a catalyst for finding artistic inspiration and personal expression. Our creative workshops are held in some of Italy’s most visually inspiring regions and cities. Accomplished artists with proven teaching abilities share their craft with students from all over the world in week-long programs, designed to address the specific interests of each student. In addition to personal attention, there are scheduled visits to museums and historic sites with the instructor, or a guest speaker who will customize an itinerary according to the student’s creative pursuits. The meals are provided by a regional chef, who brings fascinating conversation about the history, and preparation of each dish.Beginner level classes are available during the fall months, the rest of the workshops are geared towards artists with basic to moderate experience in their medium.
The course titles we currently offer include:
The Art of Italian Book Making. (Florence)
The Body Form Workshop (photographing the nude in Umbria)
The Tuscan Table (cooking in Chianti)
Sea Colors (watercolor painting the Almafi coast)
Mosaic Monastery Workshop (Veneto)
